SyllabusThis course is designed to provide teachers who wish to further their professional development through graduate coursework an opportunity to demonstrate a deeper understanding of Attention Deficit Disorder (with Hyperactivity and/or Inattentive) as well as explore teaching methods promoting an effective learning environment for varied learner characteristics. Students will become familiar with best practices necessary to facilitate academic, physical, social, and emotional success of students with Attention Deficient Disorder and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder within the classroom setting. Teachers will gain a deeper understanding of the etiology and neurology of the disorder and how it impacts the child academically, physically, and socially. Teachers will also analyze and develop strategies to effectively reduce activity and impulsivity through changing the setting as well as working with the child. This course also meets the federal NCLB guidelines for high-quality professional development. This course meets elements of all five NBPTS core standards. |
