Teacher Appreciation Week: A Celebration of You

Categories

May 5th-9th is Teacher Appreciation Week—a time dedicated to honoring the incredible people who show up every day to shape minds, inspire hearts, and change lives.

In other words: you.

You are the early riser, the late-night planner, the master of patience, and the endless encourager. You juggle curriculum, emails, parent meetings, and the ever-changing needs of your students. You meet learners where they are—whether they’re struggling, soaring, or somewhere in between—and you make them feel seen, valued, and capable. And even when it’s hard, you keep showing up.

Make Space for You

Teacher Appreciation Month is also a perfect reminder that you deserve care, too. You give so much—so here are a few simple, realistic ways to give something back to yourself:

1. Schedule a Personal Hour

Block off one hour each week this month just for you. Use it to read, walk, rest, or do anything that restores your energy. You can even give meditation a shot!

2. Create a List of Little Wins

Write down the small wins each day—whether it’s a student breakthrough, a lesson that landed, or just making it through the day with your humor intact. Here is a list of “small wins” from other educators.

3. Unplug on Purpose

Choose one day (or even just an hour) each week to completely unplug. Step away from screens, schoolwork, and social media.

4. Lean on Your People

Celebrate with your teacher tribe. Swap stories, vent, laugh, and remind each other how amazing you all are. If you need a good laugh, you might find this video from Bored Teachers relatable:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0CqjyJsJ-c

Even when the papers pile up. Even when the tech doesn't cooperate. Even when the job feels invisible, you are making a difference. We celebrate not just what you do, but who you are: passionate, dedicated, compassionate, creative, and endlessly resilient.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. The world is better because of you.
